We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Earl. What a legacy that he leaves behind with all that he had accomplished in his lifetime. My Dad will surely miss him as they have known each other for over 60 years since meeting in the Marine Corps. I have known Earl all of my life... I remember the parties at the farm when I was growing up and how I couldn't wait to go on a hayride... Earl would steer the wagon around the farm with all of us kids piled up in the back. Great stories from my Dad of the challenges and funny things that happened in the early days of Hargrove Displays Inc. So very sorry that I won't be able to attend the celebration of his life as I will be out of the country. With deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the Hargrove family.

I graduated with Earl from Bladensburg High School in 1946 but got to know him best when I went to help Barbara Anderson and Earl set up in a Party Tent he had decorated for our 25th Year Class Reunion and again for our 50th Reunion where he had decorated one of his Barns. I have never gotten over both of them and how beautiful they were. You could not tell that you were in a barn. Amazing! The day after the 50th celebration we had a picnic at his farm and Earl invited my husband, Al and I into the house and we had such a wonderful and enlightening conversation and I realized the accomplishments of our classmate and how proud I was of him and all he had done. His family was wonderful and my thoughts and prayers are with them. Our classmates were all so pleased when Earl came to our Reunion last May and will surely miss him this May. Goodbye Dear Friend - We are so proud of you. God Bless You and be with your family. Paddy (Chavis) Borelli

My family and I have enjoyed Mr. Hargrove's Christmas displays and floats since I was a young child--that's a long time ago, and my children enjoyed them too for years. The community has lost a fine man and a role model for all generations. My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. Remember, he will always live in your hearts.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Mr Hargrove was one of the nicest man I have ever had the chance of meeting. I grew up in Lothian and went to elementary school with Carey. Some of my fondest childhood memories were playing at their house and going on boat trips in the summer to Oxford. Mr Hargrove and his wife had a heart of gold and you will be missed by many people. My condolence to the whole Hargrove family.

My heart aches hearing this news. I remember growing up as a kid in Lothian and going to elementary school with Carey at Lothian Elementary. The first time he took me his parents house I was like WOW. I can honestly say that Mr Earl Hargrove and his wife were the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life and he will be missed by many people.

Dear Mrs. Hargrove and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. All of you were always so kind to us. You were a big part of our family growing up. I have many happy memories of your visits. Your Dad playing 'monster' with us and falling flat on his back was a favorite. My Dad loved him like a brother. I will keep you in my prayers. With love,

Prayers to not only the Hargrove family but the Shenandoah Caverns family that have been affected by the loss of this great man. He was monumental in not only promoting his attractions at Shenandoah Caverns but he also was a big supporter of the Town of Mount Jackson. I am proud to say that I worked for Mr. Hargrove for 11 total years; 7 of which were helping him manage the American Celebration on Parade and Shenandoah Caverns, Inc. I learned a lot and laughed a lot along side him. May you all find peace in these tough times.
