Elizabeth "Liz" Davis Leach Payne, 82, of Front Royal, passed away, Friday, March 1, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendi Davis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Friday.
Liz was born June 14, 1930 at the Remount Army Post in Warren County, daughter of the late Sgt. Richard Tasker Leach and Sarah Williams Leach. She worked for over fifteen years with Burke's Associated Enterprises.
Liz was a kind and loving person who will be missed by all that knew her. There are so many people to thank, especially her lifelong friend, Kay Nickleson, who she enjoyed playing cards with and Joann who was like a special sister and too many to be named.
Surviving are her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Albert Payne; one son, Bruce Payne and his wife Sharon of Waynesboro, VA; one daughter, Denise Payne-Jenkins of Front Royal, VA; one brother, Randolph "Dossie" Leach of Front Royal, VA; three grandchildren, Nikki, Adam, and Nicholas; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Liz was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Leach and one sister, Nannie Hazelette.
Pallbearers will be Robert Payne, Steve Payne, Randy Leach, Pat Adams, Mike Sirna, and Tony Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies Auxiliary of the Giles B. Cook Post 53 of the American Legion and the Front Royal Women of the Moose Chapter #1194.
