Elsie Sealock Obituary


Elsie E. Sealock, age 83, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.

Elsie was born in 1926, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late William J. and Elsie P. Rutherford. She was retired from the Future Farmers of America. She volunteered at the Winchester Senior Center where she was named "Volunteer of the Year" in 2000. She also participated at the Godfrey Miller Center and the Frederick County- Gainesboro Senior Club.

Elsie married William Alfred Sealock, Sr. on December 29, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1991.

Surviving are her sons, William A. Sealock and wife, Carol of Front Royal, Virginia, and John V. Sealock and wife, Terry of Leesburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, Amy Margaret Sealock of Front Royal, Virginia, David Christopher Sealock of Haymarket, Virginia, Jonathan Daniel Sealock of Leesburg, Virginia, John V. Sealock, II, and Sherri Sealock, both of Warrenton, Virginia; step-grandchildren, Nicki R. Lubold and Chris E. Myers; great-grandchildren, Jessamy Brooke Oxley, Caroline Elizabeth Oxley, and Lucas Christopher Sealock; and four nephews, John, Douglas Stephen, and Mark Merchant. A sister, Evelyn Rutherford Merchant is deceased.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Steve Meslester officiating. Interment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be David Sealock, Jonathan Sealock, Mark Merchant, Boe Merchant, Ad Barnes, and H. Roger Carroll.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Mrs. Sealock was a wonderful person and a fun loving individual. It was always a joy to be in her presence as she was so full of life and always greeted you with a smile. She celebrated life by her actions towards others and will be missed.
