Guy Granville Getz 82, of Timberville, died March 23, 2014 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born April 19, 1931 in Shenandoah Co. and was a son of the late Willard and Carrie E. Getz.

He retired from Rocco as a broiler serviceman. He was a member of St. Mary "Pine" Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson. He served in the US Army and was a member of Chimney Rock VFW Post #9660. He was a member of the Broiler servicemen's Assoc. and RPSO.

On August 17, 1951 he married the former Mary Ruth Sigler who preceded him in death on May 31, 1998. On July 9, 1999 he married the former Shirley Sigler Harpine who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sue Polk of Mt. Jackson and Carrie Pence of Vinton, VA; a son Keith A. Getz of Keezletown; step-children, Sharon Arbogast of Harrisonburg and Ronnie Harpine of Broadway; a sister, Mary Lou Wymer of Maurertown; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 4 step grandchildren, and 6 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Owen and Everette Getz, and two sisters; Anna Ryman, Helen Sorwine.

Pastor Karen Van Stee will conduct a funeral service 3 PM Saturday, March 29 at St. Mary "Pine" Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Solomons Lutheran Church Cemetery in Forestville.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 28 from 6-8 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. His body was cremated.
