James Chrisman Obituary

James Daniel Chrisman, 92, of Bentonville, VA passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Sarah Calvert. Burial will follow in the Clem-Golliday Cemetery in Fort Valley.

Mr. Chrisman was born April 12, 1918 in Bentonville, VA, son of the late John David and Mary Belle Mauck Chrisman. He retired as a farmer and was a life member of the South Warren Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Chrisman was a member of Page United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years Gladys Rinker Chrisman; one son Roger Lee Chrisman and wife Carolyn of Luray; one daughter Charlotte M. Mauck and husband Leonard of Front Royal; three brothers Franklin Chrisman of Fort Valley, Perry Chrisman of Bentonville, and Ernest Chrisman of Front Royal; one sister Mattie Virginia Lentz of Bentonville; three grandchildren Donna J. Miller and husband Vince of Front Royal, Bryan T. Chrisman of Bentonville, and Chad E. Chrisman and wife Karen of Ashburn, VA; and two great-grandchildren Braden M. Chrisman and Taylor Anne Chrisman. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Paul Chrisman and William "Bill" Chrisman; and a granddaughter Kimberly Chrisman.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Chrisman, Chad Chrisman, David Chrisman, Stanley Miller, Steve Snyder, Ronnie Chrisman, and Vince Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Fristoe, Steve Cullers, Leonard Mauck, Angus Mauck, Vernon Cullers, Nelson Zollman, Sonny Cheeks, Tuck Tobin, Robert Mims, Richard Chrisman, and Wayne Rinker.

The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601, or to the South Warren Volunteer Fire Dept., 3330 Stonewall Jackson Hwy., Bentonville, VA 22610, Attn: Judy Guy.
