James Howard Locklear, 39, of Linden, Virginia, slipped his earthly bonds Wednesday, March 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family, after losing a courageous battle with cancer. 

James was born June 2, 1979 in Salem, Ohio. He was the son of Zeb and Judith Ann (Mayo) Locklear.

James served in the United States Army where he was a Sergeant in the Military Police. While in the Army he was based at Fort Knox Kentucky and at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. 

Afterward James served as a Sergeant in the United States Secret Service as law enforcement in the Uniform Division. 

James was involved in multiple organizations including the Dynamic Life Praise and Worship Center in Front Royal, Virginia, American Legion 442 and Masonic Lodge 348 in Salineville Ohio. He was also a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau, Fraternal Order of Police and a life member of the National Rifle Association. 

James is survived by his parents, Zeb and Judy; his brother, Robert (wife Darla); sister, Laura (husband Jason); nephews, Zachary, Jacob and Colin; nieces, Albany and Madison; and many beautiful friends and family.

Special recognition given to the U.S. Secret Service for their outstanding commitment to their officers.

Friends and family will be welcomed to Maddox funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 15.

A Celebration of Life service will be held March 16 at 11 a.m. at the Dynamic Life Praise and Worship Center in Front Royal, Virginia.

He will be laid to rest in Carmel Cemetery in Rogers, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to U.S. Secret Service Employee Recreation Association, âHelping Hands Fundã, P.O. Box 2045, West Chester, PA 19380.
