John Milton Canfield, Sr., 66, of Winchester, VA died Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Mr. Canfield was born in 1947 in Alexandria, VA, the son of the late Floyd James Canfield and Edith (Martin) Canfield. He was a graduate of the American Bakers Institution with a degree in Sanitation. He was a Sanitation Manager for Rich Products, retiring in 2005 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He married Patricia (Slater) Canfield on March 15, 1965 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, John Milton Canfield, Jr. and wife, Becky of Winchester, VA, and Austin Lee Canfield and wife, Kim of Stephens City, VA; a daughter, Karen LaDonna Young, and husband, Dean of Berkeley Springs, WV; seven grandchildren, Brandon Canfield, Nicholas Canfield, Joshua Plasters, Aaron Canfield, Logan Plasters, Caleb Young and Tyler Young; a sister, Patricia Martin of Stephenson, VA, and three brothers, James Canfield of California, William Canfield and wife, Sandy of Winchester, VA, and Jerry Canfield, Sr. and wife, Robin, also of Winchester.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Minister Jerrad Holloway officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
