Joseph Jackson Dwyer, age 97, formerly of Middletown passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at Greenfield Senior Living, Strasburg.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Middletown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joel Thornton and Rev. Rose Wayland officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown.
Mr. Dwyer was born May 15, 1916 in Rileyville, Warren County, the son of the late Henry Benton and Martha Blanche Deavers Dwyer.
He was a member of Middletown Presbyterian Church, where he served an an Elder, also on numerous church committees and taught Sunday School. He retired after 31 years of service with the B&O Railroad as a track inspector, formerly owned Joe's Cash Grocery with his wife, had worked at Avtex Fibers and enjoyed carpentry work and woodworking. He was the husband of the late Frances Enskip Dwyer.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Gardenhour and husband, Harold of Middletown; his granddaughter, Mary E. Reh and husband, Andrew of Traverse City, Michigan: two great granddaughters, Isabella and Morgan Reh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Albert Orndorff, Donald Bowling, Wayne Dalton, Donald Jorden, Tommy Coffey, Wayne Baldwin and Henry Reed.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 No. Holliday St., Strasburg on Thursday fro 6:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m.
