Katie Mae Pearson, 96, of Hume, VA, passed away on April 20, 2013 at Loving Arms Assisted Living in Front Royal.

She was born on October 28, 1916 in Rappahannock County, VA, a daughter of the late Ed Putnam and Fannie Grimsley Putnam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll Pearson.

Mrs. Pearson was a longtime member of Hume Baptist Church and the Extension Homemakers Club. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, baking, and gardening. For many years she was a domestic worker for Jane Durham at Edgeworth Farm and also for David Marshall.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan C. Binsted of Alexandria, VA; two sisters, Ethel Whitmer of Springfield, VA and Evelyn Megeath of Front Royal; her grandson, David Binsted of Manassas Park, VA and four great grand- children, James, Luke, Ryan and Kathryn.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, from 7-9 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Hume Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Orlean Cemetery.
