Lindsay Francis "Duke" Dodson, 71, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his home.

Duke was born March 23, 1947 in Flint Hill, Virginia, son of the late Jackson and Bessie Dodson.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving two tours in Vietnam.

After the military Duke went on to receive his Master's Degree from Florida State University. Duke worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his life and his last place of employment was Rappawan, Inc. in Front Royal, Virginia.

He was an avid reader, gardener, huge golfer and had a great love of animals. He was a man of knowledge and a great friend.
Duke will be greatly missed by his wife, family and many dear friends.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Patty Jones Dodson; one brother, Adren Dodson of Staunton; and proud uncle of his many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Having such a great love of animals and books, Duke would like memorial contributions to be made to Samuels Public Library, 330 East Criser Road, Front Royal, VA 22630 or to the Humane Society of Warren County, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, VA 22630.
