Norman Frederick (Butchie) Kerns, Jr., age 44, a resident of Cross Junction, VA (formerly of Front Royal, VA) passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

There will be a viewing at Maddox Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, from 7-9 p.m. Burial will be private.
Butchie was born October 24, 1968, the son of Norman Kerns, Sr. of Cross Junction, VA and Joyce Harris of Strasburg, VA.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Johnny and Maude Kerns of Front Royal, and maternal grandparents, Luther and Violet Funk, also of Front Royal.
In addition to his mother and father, Butchie is survived by 2 brothers, Chris Kerns and Jeremy Loveless, both of Front Royal; 4 sisters, Melissa Coleman of Luray, Melissa Dinges of New Market, Melissa Leadman of Winchester, and Heather Kerns of Raleigh, NC.
He is also survived by his 4 children, Justin Thomas Kerns of Jacksonville, FL, Bianca Owens of Toms Brook, Norman Kerns lll (Little Butchie) and Destiny Kerns, both of Front Royal.
Butchie leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in addition to a host of friends.
Butchie worked in construction for many years. He never met a stranger and he made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, writing poetry and singing karaoke. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
