Paul Thomas (Pop) Williams arose to be with the Lord on Saturday April 19, 2014.

He was born in Strasburg, Virginia on April 18, 1934, son of the late Sandy Scott and Marie Beatrice Williams.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 27, 2014 at St Paul's Lutheran Church, Strasburg, Virginia with Pastor Bill Nabers, Rev. William H. Hall, II and Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersh officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Reia Ann Hartsell Williams. He was the father of two children, Paul Timothy Williams of Strasburg, his wife Carol, and Pam Martz of Woodstock. His grandchildren, Paul Tyler Williams and wife Heather of Toms Brook, Stephanie Williams of Strasburg; Turner Martz of Woodstock and Thomas Martz of Woodstock.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Archie Stuart, John Sandy and Richard Clark.

He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Bromley; Martha Brill, her husband Winston; and Sherry Rodgers, her husband Bill; his sisters-in-law; Pat Stover, her husband Bill; Linda Williams and Shirley Williams; by his lifetime friends; Clark and Dorothy Miller and by a brother-in-law; Charles W. "Billy" Hartsell and his wife Darlene. He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a lifetime member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, serving as a choir member, past church council member, Sunday school teacher and courtesy car driver. He was a veteran of the US Navy. After leaving the Navy he started his career with C & P Telephone Company and retired after 30 years of service.

He was a lifelong member of the Strasburg Fire Department where he served in many ranks including: President and Captain. During his 54 years of service, he was a founder of the junior firefighter program and answered many calls from neighbors and friends in need. His daily mentoring and coffee drinking in the day room of the firehouse will be missed.
