Pam -- Your mother taught me 7th grade home ec at Rollingcrest Jr. High School in 1969. It was the second year after my mother died suddenly from a cerebral aneurysm, and I was hurting. Your mom was unceasingly kind and good humored with all of us, but she would periodically look me in the eye and ask how I was doing. No one else did that. Everyone seemed to want to pretend that it hadn't happened. But your mom was brave enough to ask the question that would inevitably produce some tears on my part. And if that weren't enough, she taught me everything I needed to know (and more) about doing Swedish embroidery on huck toweling, crochecting curler bags, knitting a hat, and sewing my first dress. I learned how to make potholders out of gingham with a cross-stitch design, how to make yarn pom-poms, and how to read a pattern. Lost arts, these. I am sure that your mom is remembered and treasured by hundreds of other women, who -- like me -- needed a little extra care during a tumultuous season of adolescence and a turbulent time in our social history. Blessings as you celebrate her life and grieve her loss. Please know that she lives on in many, many hearts!

Dear Pam
Our hearts are with you, and our deepest sympathy - we loved your Mother and treasure the memories of rickshaws in Vietnam, boats in Bali, trains in Norway, crocodiles down under, BBQ by her pool, cocktails at any sunset, and laughter everywhere. She lived life gracefully, elegantly and with kindness. Our deepest aloha, Kim & Ron

The best obit I have ever read. It captured the essence of your mom's love of life and your love for her.

Pam.....it was so nice to have had the pleasure of meeting/knowing your mom in a limited way, through Hervey.
She was a very special lady! I would also bump into her, periodically, while out doing errands and we'd get to chat.
You were so lucky to have had her.
My sympathies,
Ellen Wallis
