Rachel Wingo Bailey left this earthly life on Saturday, April 3, 2010 to go home to be with her Heavenly Father. She died at Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, where she had received wonderful and loving care from her nephew, Dr. Floyd Bradd III and his wife Jan, as well as from the staff there and at Warren Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bailey was born on April 26, 1926 to Guy and Mable Bustard Wingo and was raised in Drakes Branch with her nine siblings.
She was a member of the Drakes Branch United Methodist Church and a long time member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from the Fairfax County Health Department and had also worked for several years previously for The Girl Scouts of America. She divided her time between her homes; she resided at the Masonic Home in Richmond and spent her winters at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida. She had very recently made her home with her nephew, Wayne Cottrill and his wife Mary in Strasburg, Va.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by two sisters; Mable Bradd of Hayes, Va. and Nora Berry of Connelley Springs, N.C. She is also survived by her three loving daughters; Ginnie Hiatt and husband George of Lothian, Md., Carol Blake and husband George (Beaver) Blake of Berryville, Va., and Lisa Aristizabal and her partner Mike Bumbrey of Fairfax, Va. Surviving also are her grandchildren: Nicky Erisman and wife Paula, Katie Davis and husband Todd, Jeb Hiatt, Joey Blake and wife Katherine, Tommy Blake, Michael Blake and wife Grace, Jefferey Blake and wife Amanda, Leslie and Allie Aristizabal. Great-grandchildren are Maggie, Tony and Madison Erisman, Kate Blake and Grayson Aristizabal-Ing. Two new great-grandsons are expected in a few weeks; one to Joey and Katherine Blake and one to Michael and Grace Blake. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, six sisters, one brother, and her only son Herb Erisman. Her deceased husbands were Warren Erisman, father of Herb, James B. Thompson, father of Ginnie, Carol and Lisa and her last love, Al Bailey.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the family cemetery of Oliver, Smith and Thompson in Great Falls, Va.
