Richard K. Ambrose, age 97, a resident of Strasburg, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Greenfield Senior living, Strasburg.

A graveside service for Mr. Ambrose will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Riverview Cemetery with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg.
Mr. Ambrose was born on February 17, 1917 at Strasburg Junction, the son of Kirby and Winifred Bagnell Ambrose.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran proudly serving in the Pacific during World War II as a radioman. He retired from Columbia Gas Company and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Strasburg, Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, Spurmont Masonic Lodge No. 98 AF&AM, and Strasburg Moose Lodge #403.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Ambrose and Edward Ambrose; and a sister, Mrs. Eloise Jessie.
He is survived by nephews, Edgar A. Ambrose and wife Barbara of Front Royal, VA, and Donald E. Ambrose of Gainsville, FL; and a niece, Mrs. Janice Doyle and husband, Robert of Charlottesville, VA.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. with a Masonic memorial service at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Spurmont Masonic Lodge No. 98 AF&AM.
