Robert Eastham Settle, 75, of Front Royal, Virginia, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Sammy Campbell. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Mr. Settle was born July 17, 1937, in Rappahannock County, son of the late Wade Middleton Settle and Emma Eastham Settle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. Mr. Settle held numerous jobs throughout his life including construction, heavy equipment operator, bartender, and most recently as a cook for the American Legion Post 53 in Front Royal. He was a life-member and Past Governor of Front Royal Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 829 and a member of Giles B. Cook Post 53 of the American Legion for 52 years.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wade Settle, Charles Settle, Warren Settle, and Cleveland Settle.

Surviving are one sister, Mamie Whorton of Rappahannock Co.; two sons, Dale and Robbie; and extended family members and caregivers Kristi, Chris, and Christopher Tennett, all of Front Royal.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Vaught, Roger Fox, Ricky Smoot, Kenny Boyd, T.A. "Mac" McIntyre, and Dennis Grove.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McDonnell, Tony Beckner, and Billy Jenkins.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.

The family invites all to the American Legion Post #53 for a time of food and fellowship following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center c/o Palative Care Unit, 510 Butler Avenue, Martinsburg, WV 25405.
