She was born on April 8, 1916 in Flint Hill. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Amanda Adams of Flint Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jordan Alsberry, Sr. with whom she was married for over forty years. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters and she was the last member of her immediate family.
She was a lifetime member and mother of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Flint Hill, where she held many honorable positions.
She is survived by the following children; Jordan H. Alsberry, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Strasburg; Alvin E. Alsberry, deceased (Johnnie) of Compton, CA; Rochella A. Strother (Kenneth deceased); Marion V. Strother (Robert); Audrey Dyer (Earl deceased) all of Strasburg; Charles M. Alsberry (infant deceased); Johnny R. Aslberry (Barbara) Richmond; Leonard L. Alsberry (Siomone) of Strasburg; Angela A. Wilkins (Olric) of Virginia Beach; Priscilla A. Terry (Edwin) of Charlotte, NC; and Kathy A. Temple (Harry deceased) of Strasburg.
She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, four of who are deceased, Dana Alsberry, Devora Alsberry of Richmond; Larry Hughes of Philadelphia, PA; and Litonya Terry of Charlotte, NC; 26 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church of Flint Hill where she served as President of the Deaconess Ministry, President of the Senior Choir, Superintendent of the Sunday school and a member of the Missionary Circle.
Over many years, she held Bible Study and Sunday school in her home in Strasburg. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter of Front Royal. She was an active member of the Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens. She was a special honoree during Strasburg Mayfest Parade in 2011. She was acknowledged by several presidents for a number of birthday celebrations. She also had the opportunity to tour Air Force One.
Services for our loving mother will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, Flint Hill.
Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in her name to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund (Window), 574 Zachary Taylor Hwy., Flint Hill, VA 22627 or Strasburg Rescue Squad, Inc., 156 E. Washington St., Strasburg, VA 22657.
