Ruby Allen went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2012 at the age of 97.

Mrs. Allen was born August 1, 1915 in Dearborn, MO. She was the oldest of 8 children born to Effie (Roberts) Reynolds and Robert Elmer Reynolds. Three brothers survive, Melvin and Jewell Reynolds of Gower, MO, and Harold Reynolds of Deep Water, MO.

Mrs. Allen was a cook for the Sunnyside School District in Tuscon, AZ until her retirement in 1985.

She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed for the public everything from aprons to wedding dresses.

She enjoyed traveling over the U.S. and Mexico in a motorhome every summer while school was not in session.

Mrs. Allen loved gardening, working crossword puzzles, reading, and playing cards and games. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren always enjoyed challenging Grandma Allen to a game of something and she wasn't easy to beat.

She is survived by two daughters, Anna Belle and Ed Holbert of Tuscon, AZ, and Dorothy and Timothy Doolan of Edinburg, VA, with whom she made her home since 2006; one step-daughter, Diane Hyde of Baytown, TX and one step-son, John (Sharon) Allen of Louisville, KY; twelve grandchildren, Timothy A. (Teresa) Doolan, Quicksburg, VA, Randall (Elizabeth) Doolan, Edinburg, VA, Belinda Joiner, Reno, NV, Debra (Bill) Likewise, Mesa, AZ, Debra Shultz, Portage, WI, Doug Allen, Elgin, IL, Jeff (Amy) Allen, John Allen, III, Hartford, CT, Joel Allen, Newington, CT, Matthew Allen (Kristin) Newtown, PA, Michael (Jenny) Hyde, Seabrook, TX, Miriah Hyde, Guatemala City, Guatemala; eighteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Allen Ray Stutesman and John Cloyd Allen; four sisters, Viola Reeves, Bernice Musser, Margaret Hyatt, and Melba Sellars, and one step-son, Robert Allen, his wife Gloria and one grandson, Robert Harold Doolan.

Mom always had the ability to make the best of any situation she happend to be in at the time. She taught us to work hard, be fair, and treat people the way we wanted to be treated. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at First Church of Columbia Furnace, Edinburg, VA on December 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Brian Duncan officiating. A funeral and burial will be held in South Lawn Cemetery, Tuscon, AZ.
