Shawn Mantz Obituary
Shawn Christopher Mantz, 2, of Timberville, passed away on Sunday August 29, 2010 at the home of his parents following a long and heroic battle with infant leukemia.
Shawn was born on May 4, 2008 in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Christopher and Brandi Daniels Mantz.
In addition to his parents, Shawn is survived by his Maternal grandparents, Anita Thompson and husband Dwayne, and Art Daniels and wife Patricia; Paternal grandparents Matt and Donna Mantz; Maternal great-grandparents, Janice and Keith Magers and Lee and Ray Naile; paternal great-grandparents, Elmo and Shelvie Mantz and Sara McClanahan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and her husband, Teresa and Danny Whited.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 6 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Don Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rachel Lynn Smith Foundation, 108 Spring Water Ct, New Bern, NC 28563.

I am so sorry for your loss, when Missy called me and told me Shawn was ill, it touched me so deeply that I had to make a comfort blankie for him, Missy told me how he loved rubbing his face on it. I so hope he found comfort in that blankie, i am so sorry for your loss, you and your Family are in my prayers

We all come into this world not knowing for how many years we are allowed to stay...we all see so many of our family and friends go on before us and we just wait. There are never words that can truly take the pain and grief away from those who wait behind but I take some comfort in knowing that there are so many wonderful souls waiting for us to come and be with them. I look forward to seeing Shawn, and know that he must be the most handsome little cherub in heaven...and am sure that my sister, Sandra Kay, and his grandmother Teresa, and so many others, will look after him until we all meet again. Our time on earth is very short...but our time together in heaven will be forever.
