Rev. William Cecil Taylor, Jr., 86, of Strasburg, Virginia, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Greenfield Senior Living, Strasburg, Virginia, of natural causes.

A funeral service for Rev. Taylor will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. P. Douglas Martin and Rev. Edward P. Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in Refuge United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Rev. Taylor was born January 8, 1927, in Washington, D.C., to William Cecil Taylor, Sr., and Gladys Lucille (Brown) Taylor.

Pastor Taylor was a graduate of Toledo University, Toledo, Ohio, and Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, New Jersey. His ministry of 50+ years in the United Methodist Church included pastorates in New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, and Virginia. He will be remembered for his storytelling and children's sermons. He had a loving heart for birds and wildlife. At one time, he dabbled in mineralogy. Pastor Taylor's friends in Strasburg will remember his kite-flying expertise.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Kay (Andre) Taylor of Strasburg, Virginia; daughters (of Linda Wilgus Taylor) are Krista Lynne (Taylor) Hutchings of Ashland, Kentucky; Kara Leigh (Taylor) Penley of Portsmouth, Ohio; and Klaire Lori (Taylor) Purtee of Portsmouth, Ohio; grandchildren,  Jennifer Penley, Christopher Penley, Timothy Penley, Jesse Hutchings, Cecilia Purtee, Alexandra Hutchings, and Abigail Purtee; one great-grandson, Owen Hurst;  two step-children, Karen (Howerton) Shaw and Amy (Howerton) Selby, and two step-grandchildren.  Rev. Taylor is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Taylor) Priest, of Columbus, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Penley, Timothy Penley, Brian Krueger, Michael Penley, Willie Mitchell, and Steve Buck.
