William James Cahill, 82, of Edinburg, VA, died, July 10, 2013, in Woodstock, VA from complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Mr. Cahill was born in Washington, DC in 1931, the son of the late William James and Josephine Cahill.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. A graduate of Central High School in Washington, DC he received an Associate's degree from Columbia School of Engineering. William was a member of Saint John Bosco Catholic Church. Employed as a civil engineer, his career took him to many places. He worked on projects such as Logan and Dulles Airports, Richard B. Russell & Gathright Dams and projects in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.

He was a man known for the love he gave his family. Raising his children and loving his grandchildren and great grandchildren was his greatest joy. Bill enjoyed fishing with his family, taking trips and playing late night Uno games. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He married Rita C. Kennedy on June 20, 1950, in Washington, DC.

In addition to his wife of Edinburg, VA, he is survived by two daughters; Margaret J. Cahill of Winchester, VA and Mary Theresa Fansler of Strasburg; two sons, William James Cahill and wife, Melanie of Knoxville, TN, and Stephen Matthew Cahill and wife, Terri, of Woodstock, VA. He is also survived by a sister; Lillie H. Cahill of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and a brother, Michael E. Cahill and wife, Laurette, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

A daughter, Kathleen Ann Ramey; a grandson, Christopher Ramey; and a sister, Marie Cahill preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel Winchester, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Aspen Hill, MD.
