Eugene "Gene "D. Steele, 86, of Front Royal, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Loving Arms.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Larry Andrews. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Steele was born February 17, 1926, son of the late Cecil Calvin and Margaret Cunningham Steele. He was a retired farmer and was also owner of Steele's Lime Spreading.

Surviving are his beloved Nancy Wright; a son, Tim Steele and wife Cynthia; grandson, Jesse Steele; granddaughter, Shanna Coffman; four great-grandchildren, James, Jarred, Jacob, and Jordan Coffman; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Louis Steele and two sisters, Shirley Steele and Betty Jones.

Pallbearers will be James Steele, Raymond Steele, Cecil Cameron, Samuel Esteppe, William Keeler, and Ronnie Steele.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Steele, Ralph Palmer, and the caregivers of Loving Arms.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Warren Co., 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, VA, 22630 or Loafs and Fishes / Loving Arms Benevolent Fund, 103 Lee Burke Road, Front Royal, VA, 22630.
