The Reverand Daniel Rohne Kasten Sr., of McGaheysville, passed away May 26, 2012 at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg at 86.
Mr. Kasten was born January 31, 1926 in Richmond, and was the son of the late John Frederick Kasten Sr. and Helma Bernhardt Kasten.
He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a graduate of Virginia Tech and Eden Seminary. He worked as an architect in Richmond and served in the United Church of Christ as a minister for 33 years. He was a member of the St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Harrisonburg.
On September 13, 1958 he married Dorothy Elaine Arey, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Erick Kasten and wife Elaine, Richmond; Mark Kasten and wife Deborah, Kill Devil Hills, NC; Daniel Kasten Jr., Red Lion, PA; and eight grandchildren.
Pastor Dan Bassett and Pastor Tresa Quarles will conduct a memorial service 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at the St. Stephens UCC in Harrisonburg. Burial will be private.
