Eula Lorene (Goad) Ruffner, age 77, of Strasburg, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday at Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas Martin officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg.

Mrs. Ruffner was born December 27, 1934 in Roanoke, the daughter of the late Joel Dexter Goad of Front Royal and the late Lelia Muriel (Goad) Striker of Strasburg.

Eula was a former secretary to the pastor of Front Royal United Methodist Church and a former typesetter at the Warren Sentinel. Her life long passions were painting, playing the piano, writing songs and poetry, solving crossword puzzles and of course taking care of her two boys. Eula grew up in Strasburg becoming the valedictorian of the class of 1953. She attended James Madison College and Roller Business College. Eula married her high school bow, the late Arthur E. Ruffner, Jr. (Ruffie) in 1955.

Eula was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord. In her latter years, she was not able to physically help others but she did give to many non-profit organizations and to her family.

Surviving are her loving sons, Randall Ruffner and wife, Anna of Mt. Jackson; one brother, Lonnie and wife Terry of Strasburg; granddaughter, April Ruffner and Ronnie Clem Ruffner and great-grand- sons, Dakota, Tyler and Trystan Ruffner of Edinburg and her loving son, Todd Ruffner of West Virginia and grandsons, Kingston Ruffner of Strasburg and Aaron Ruffner of West Virginia.

In addition, a grandson, Robert Ruffner of Mt. Jackson predeceases her.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will meet at the church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

Memorials may be made to Strasburg United Methodist Church or Consulate Health Care of Woodstock.
