Lester Carroll "Bud" Rutz, 99, of Toms Brook, died Sunday, July 1, 2012.

A graveside service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Friday, July 6, 2012, 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Joe Fleming.

Mr. Rutz was born January 1, 1913 at Maurertown, VA. He was the son of the late Samuel L. and Mary Etta Carroll Rutz.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. He was employed by C&R Chevrolet, Grubbs Chevrolet, and Big A Auto Parts.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ for 86 years and Cassia Masonic Lodge for 75 years.

Mr. Rutz was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Ella Worrell Rutz and a brother, Lewis Rutz.

Mr. Rutz is survived by a son, Arthur Norman Rutz, Sr. and wife Delores of Toms Brook; two grandsons, Arthur Norman Rutz, Jr. of Angola, IN and Shawn D. Rutz and wife Amanda of Maurertown; and a great granddaughter, Madison Ella Rutz.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 till 8 p.m. with a Masonic Memorial service at 7 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Rutz, Jimmy Gillenwater, James Funkhouser, Ron Croom, Buster Kibler, and Jimmy Whetzel.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Toms Brook, VA.
