Henry Maxwell Sager, age 76, a resident of Strasburg, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Dutch Haven Assisted Living in Maurertown.

A funeral service for Mr. Sager will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Stover Memorial Chapel with Rev. L. E. "Nip" Crites officiating.
Burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg.
He was born on October 21, 1935, a son of the late Howard B. and Julia Mary Rebecca Orndorff Sager. Mr. Sager was a U.S. Marine Veteran having served from 1953-1956 and received the Expert Rifleman badge. After being honorably discharged from the military, he worked for Quick Music Company before becoming a stone mason by trade. He was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Violet Dehoff Geraldine, and Virgie Barraza Ratcliffe; brothers, Paul Sager, Jesse Sager and Roger Sager.
Survivors include his wife, Shadah Marie Updike Sager; daughters, Mary Power and Dolores Pangle; sons, Sam Sager, and Arthur Sager; stepson, Michael Carper; sisters, Verna Ryman, Dora Woodward and Betty Chronister; a brother, Virgil Sager; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jake Sager, John Power, Mike Carper, Albert Ratcliff, Donald Sager and James Kibler.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m.
