Russell Allen Grimsley, 64, of Flint Hill, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Dr. Sam Blakley, Thd. Burial will be at Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Grimsley was born June 2, 1948 in Front Royal, the son of Ada M. Pullen Grimsley of Flint Hill and the late George T. Grimsley. He was a meat cutter for Stock Yards.
Surviving with his mother are his wife, Cherry Grimsley of Huntly, VA; 2 sons, Jason Russell Grimsley of Huntly and Rodney Allen Grimsley of Irving, TX; 2 brothers, Ashby Grimsley of Front Royal and Walter Grimsley of Culpeper; 1 sister, Joyce James of Flint Hill; 5 grandchildren, Christian Grimsley, Jasmine Grimsley, Chloe Grimsley, Gabe Grimsley and Chessa Grimsley.
Pallbearers will be James Burke, Michael Grimsley, James Fletcher, Jonathan Fletcher, Rodney Grimsley, and Jason Grimsley.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 3, from 7-8 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
A special thanks to Hospice of Rapidan, my uncle Ashby, aunt Millie, my grandmother Ada, my brother Jason, and all of the doctors and nurses, who took care of my dad during his battle with cancer. May he finally rest in peace.
