Earnie Roy Pugh, 80, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Pugh was born in 1932 in Gore, Virginia, the son of the late Roy Pugh and Lillian Pugh Hovermale. He was a plant manager for Miller Chemical having served for 26 years, then later a truck driver for Southern States, retiring in 1994. Mr. Pugh was a former member of Rosedale Baptist Church.
He married Jeanette Irene Kerns on October 29, 1955, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife are three children, Debra Irene Baker and husband James, Jr. of Gore, Earnest Roy Pugh, Jr. of Stephenson, Robin Jeaneen Shillingburg and husband Roy of Winchester; four grandchildren, Mindy Irene Dawson, James Lewis Baker, III, Kenneth Roy Shillingburg, and Mandi Lynn Shillingburg; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Bonnie Purtlebaugh, Betty Kirby, Cynthia Miller Charlotte Orndorff and Shirley Gray, all of Winchester; and three brothers, Theodore Pugh, Robert Pugh, both of Winchester, and Doug Pugh of Gore.
A daughter, Judith Pugh, four sisters, Glenda Wamsley, Judith Pugh, Karen Crites and Sharon Legge and one brother, Warner Pugh preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Ken Smith officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Gore, Virginia.
