Gary Lee Dicks, Sr., 57, of Stephens City, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2012.

He was born July 20, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of Pearl Virginia Henry Dicks and the late Harry Hill Dicks of Strasburg, Virginia.
He was the grandson of the late John Wilbur Dicks and Mary Ella Orndorff Dicks of Marlboro, Virginia and William Wesley Henry and Vernie Catherine Littleton Henry of Middletown, Virginia.
On December 24, 1977, he married Joyce Ann Welch of Clear Brook, Virginia.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, John Paul Dicks and wife Christina of Stephens City, Virginia and Gary Lee Dicks, Jr. and wife Amanda of Augusta, West Virginia; a brother, Harry Douglas Dicks of Amman, Jordan; and a sister, Debra Lynn Dicks of Strasburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, Reagan Paige Dicks of Augusta, West Virginia, Alex Smoot and Julia, Josie and Jessie Dicks, all of Stephens City, Virginia. He also had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly, and who loved him.
In his youth, Gary was an Eagle Scout and was a member of Buckton Presbyterian Church at Buckton, Virginia. In later years, he transferred his membership to Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church at Marlboro, Virginia.
He attended schools in Catonsville, Maryland and later Warren County Schools in Front Royal, Virginia.
Gary's passion was trucks, and he enjoyed driving trucks, collecting model trucks and talking trucks.
He also enjoyed socializing with family and friends, classic country music and was a NASCAR racing fan.
He was a member of Eagles Erie #824.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Jones Funeral Home on Sunday, November 11, 2012, from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12 at 11 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be follow in the Dicks family plot in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Mongold, Jeffrey Mongold, Jeremy Mongold, Darrel Lleweyllen, Randy Shifflett, Ernie Pingley and John Neff.
