Robert Lee Simmons, Sr., 88, of Mt. Jackson, died Tuesday in Woodstock.

The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing by Pastor Larry Cook. Burial will follow in the United Church of Christ Conicville Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons was born August 5, 1924 in Highland County, son of the late Hubert and Lucinda Waybright Simmons.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Kathleen Simmons.
He was a farmer and a W.W.II Army veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Bowley and Bonnie K. Simmons both of Mt. Jackson; a son Robert Lee Simmons, Jr. of Stanley; three sisters, Nellie Fleisher of Harrisonburg, Edith Fleisher and Mary Wagoner both of Franklin, W.Va.; a brother, Melvin Waybright of Woodstock; he is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Simmons, Michael Simmons, Robert McKenzie, James Waybright, Melvin Waybright, John Waybright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Calab Simmons, Shane Blakeley, Leah Simmons, Bradley Simmons, Hunter Proffitt, Landeyn Simmons, Chris Bowley, Sam Miller.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7-8 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service, Bowmans Crossing.
