Elizabeth Ann Gillespie Hockman, 85, of Mt. Jackson, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Consulate Health Care of Woodstock.

Mrs. Hockman was born May 14, 1927 in Jenkinjones, WVA, daughter of the late Marguerite Umberger Gillespie Emery and the late Frank Gillespie. She graduated from Ivanhyoe, VA High School and West Viginia Busuiness College, Bluefield, WVA.

She was preceded in death May 12, 2003 by her husband, Lyndell L. Hockman whom she married May 12, 1946 in Wythe County, VA.

She was employed many years in various localities in office administration, with almost 10 years in Civil Service.

She was a member of Mt. Jackson United Methodist Church, Past Matron of Mt. Jackson Chapter #162, Order of the Eastern Star, Member of Woodstock Chapter #93 OES, Mt. Jackson Book Club, Narrow Passage Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Stover Camp Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, worked in the Gift Shop over 20 years, Docent at Mt. Jackson Union Church, former volunteer in the Mt. Jackson Community Library for many years as well as serving on various community Boards through the years. In later years she was active in the Edinburg Senior Center and the Mt. Jackson-Forestville Senior Fellowship.

She was preceded in death also by two brothers, Thomas Earl and Charles Ray Gillespie, and her step-father Cecil J. Emery.

She is survived by one brother, Billy G. Gillespie, Ivanhoe, VA; a niece and nephews; special great niece, Jennifer Wills and other great nieces and nephews. Also she was survived by a special care giver, Barbara Stickley and good friend Linda Olson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Jackson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Dettmer officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

Eastern Star services will be10 a.m. at the church Saturday by the Woodstock Chapter #93 Order of the Eastern Star. The family will receive friends prior to the 11 a.m. service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hepler, Wayne Shaffer, Rick Hassler, Raymond Jett, Larry Ambrose and Howard Hackenbracht.

Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy will be attending in a group.
