Charles Richard "Hound Dog" Morris, age 86, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 surrounded by his family at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

A memorial service for Mr. Morris will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 16555 Old Valley Pike, Edinburg, VA. Burial will be conducted privately at a later date.

He was born on January 20, 1928 in Savage, Maryland a son of the late Harry Amos and Lillian Mae Smith Morris. Aside from his wife and family fishing was his greatest love in his life. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army and was a long time member of Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA. He worked as a professional interior/ exterior painter for Hi Neighbor Painting, along with his brother, Amos Morris. He then retired to a life of fishing and became dedicated to his wife, family, and to the belief and studies with Jehovah Witnesses.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Kline, Mildred Hockman, and Helen Hoover.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Margie Spitler Morris of Strasburg, VA; his son, Richard Morris and wife, Linda of Winchester, VA; daughters, Alice Cathy Morris Caporaletti and husband, Gary of Waldorf, Maryland, Melissa Morris of Strasburg, VA, and Ester Morris Shanks and husband, Robert of Surgoinsville, TN; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his twin brother, Amos Morris and wife Betty of Strasburg, VA; half brother, James E. Smith of Laurel, MD. numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
