Sarah F. Eller, 85, beloved sister of Charlotte J. Eller, died Tuesday afternoon at their home in Winchester, after a lengthy illness.

The funeral will be conducted at Montague Avenue United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Andy Brock and the Rev. Anthony Wadsworth. It will be preceded by the receiving of friends at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Miss Eller was born on July 25, 1928 in Lexington, North Carolina to Charlie Brantley Eller and Julia Jenks Eller, both of whom preceded her in death.

Her sisters, Mondia Eller Dyer and Sophia Eller Howell, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sister, Charlotte; three nieces, Julia T. Dyer of Charlottesville, Katy Dyer Freed and her husband, Paul Freed of Farmville, and Rebecca Howell Kendrick and her husband, James "Skipper" Kendrick, of Hurst, Texas.

Also surviving are great-nieces, Courtney Freed Benson and Abigail Freed, and a great-nephew, Mason Scott Freed, all of Farmville, and a great-niece, Jamie Kendrick, of Hurst, Texas. Two great-great nephews, both of Farmville, also survive.

She held a variety of jobs, including a position as a bridal consultant at Heironimus of Roanoke, a major department store in the city, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also worked at a number of office jobs.

But the vocation closest to her heart was caring for members of her family, whom she loved dearly. She especially was devoted to her nieces, who returned her deep affection with love and tenderness.

Burial will be early Monday afternoon in the Mount Hermon United Methodist Church cemetery near Altavista, Virginia.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Jones Funeral Home.
