Anna Rae Rudacille White passed away the evening of March 11, 2014 at Hidden Springs Senior Living from Alzheimer's disease.

Anna Rae was born in her Grandparents', Stephen Clifton Lawson and Annie Susan Beaty Lawson, farmhouse in Glen Echo, Warren County. Anna Rae was the second child of Raymond Hodder Rudacille and Ruth Ardelia Lawson Rudacille. She was little sister to Stuart Lawson Rudacille who passed away in 2008. Anna Rae was raised on Glenway Farm and after leaving to raise her own family in Fairfax County, returned in 1990 with her husband of now 64 years, Alpheus Lee White, to live with and care for her parents. After providing comfort care for her parents through the end of their lives, Anna Rae spent the last 19 years of her life giving comfort care to close relative, Vera Rudacille and dear friend, Irene Doege through the end of their lives.

Anna Rae was a graduate of Warren County High School, Roanoke College, and the University of Virginia, earning her higher degrees in education. Until the time of her passing Anna Rae enjoyed a long and loving friendship with five of her dear Chi Delta Delta sorority sisters of Roanoke College: Carol Mayer, Jean Martin, Patricia Hamlin, Doris Ritter, and Nancy Lou Wellford.

Following in her Mother's footsteps, Anna Rae dedicated her life to teaching children. She taught 4th and 7th grades in Fairfax County, retiring in 1984 from Robinson High school as a guidance counselor after 25 years of public school service.

Anna Rae was a member of Baptist Churches wherever she lived and lately attended the First Baptist Church in Front Royal. She was a member of The Daughters Of The American Revolution based on the service of her Great 5th Grandfather John Jacob Rudesilla, a Continental Army soldier. She enjoyed her responsibility as steward of her ancestral farm and home and was especially proud, witnessing and helping in the transformation of her cattle farm to a wine producing operation. Anna Rae also enjoyed interviewing and writing sketches of Browntown Community residents which were published in the Browntown Community Newsletter and are now housed at the Warren County Heritage Society in Front Royal.

Anna Rae was thoroughly delighted in watching her grandchildren grow and develop into the beautiful young people they are today.

Along with her husband Al, Anna Rae is survived by three sons, Mark Mason, Stephen Alpheus and Jeffrey Raymond, three daughters-in-law, Janet Gardner, Sherrie Lynne and Kelly Ann, five grandchildren, John (Jack) Raymond, Ashleigh Rae, Lauren Rebecca, Allison Lee and Andrew Alpheus, a very dear first cousin Mary Kathryn Clark, one sister-in-law, Petsy Holt Rudacille, two nieces, Susan Rudacille Bell and Lillian LeAnne Rudacille, and many dear friends and neighbors.

The family will visit with friends and neighbors at 9:30 AM at Maddox Funeral Home chapel in Front Royal on March 15, 2014. Anna Rae's life will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, officiated by the Reverend Carlysle Crank at the same location. She will then be interred in the family plot in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark, Steve, Jeff, Jack and Andrew White and Chris Manuel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James and John Richard Bell, Brady Manuel and Dave Scanlan.

Immediately following her interment friends and family are invited to the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Front Royal for refreshments and shared memories.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Daryl, Vicky and Aron Davison and all the staff members of Hidden Springs Senior Living for their professional and gentle care given to Anna Rae during her short stay.

Anna Rae requested a single red rose on her coffin. In lieu of sending flowers please send a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to help in the search for a cure of this devastating disease. 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Fl. New York, NY 10001, (866) 232-8484.

An Alzheimer's Poem
Do not ask me to remember
Don't try to make me understand
Let me rest and know you're with me
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand
      I'm confused beyond your concept
I am sad and sick and lost
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all costs
Please do not lose your patience with me
Do not scold me or curse or cry
      I can't help the way I'm acting
      I can't be different though I try
Just remember that I need you
And that the best of me is gone
Please don't fail to stand beside me
And love me 'til my life is done
