Helen Geneva Minnick, 92, of Mt. Jackson died Friday, May 9, 2014 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 28, 1921 in Mt. Jackson to Wade Hampton and Minnie Mae Robinson Knisley who predeceased her. She was the widow of Carson Samuel Minnick to whom she was married for 62 years before his death in 2002. She was also predeceased by her eight siblings.

Mrs. Minnick is survived by her beloved daughter, Shirley Minnick of Williamsburg and Mt. Jackson; her loving nephew, Roger Rudy of Mt. Jackson; numerous other nephews and nieces; and dear friend Mary Bailey of Williamsburg.

An active member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Mt. Jackson, for nearly 70 years, she served on the Evangelism and Social Ministry committees and made frequent visits to the sick and shut-in. Primarily a homemaker, she also held several short-term jobs, including ones at Walter's Restaurant, Estep's Restaurant, and Triplett Elementary School cafeteria.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, May 13, at 11:00 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church with the Reverend Matthew A. Diehl officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Neil Fadely, Donnie Pifer, Darren Swartz, and nephews John Minnick, Robert Minnick, Dale Painter, Dennis Schaeffer, and Dick Schaeffer.

The family will receive friends at the home.
