Forrest Ervin Waggy, 94 of Mt. Jackson, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Commonwealth Assistant Living in Front Royal.

Mr. Waggy was born August 17, 1919 in Sugar Grove, West Virginia, son of the late Hendron and Louella Catherine Mitchell Waggy.

He opened his first store, Waggy's Jewelry in 1949 with the help of his wife in Mt. Jackson and in Lexington in 1960. He was in business for 55 years. He organized the Northern Virginia Watchmakers Guild and served as its president for two years.
Mr. Waggy served in the United States Army during W.W. II. He was a life-time member of Mt. Jackson Masonic Lodge # 103 A.F.&A.M. where he was a former Past Master and a former Past Patron of the Eastern Star. He was also a life-time member of the Mt. Jackson Lions Club. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, the church choir and served on the council as treasurer.

Mr. Waggy was married March 18, 1945 to Marie Helen Lutz who preceded him in death April 1, 2013.

He is survived by two daughters, Lois Waggy Burkhart and husband Gene of Stephens City and Jean Waggy McLaughlin and husband Michael of Martinsburg, WVA; five grandchildren, Tracy Burkhart Riley, Trisha Burkhart Foreman, Jeremy McLaughlin, Kevin McLaughlin and Aaron McLaughlin; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson with the Rev. Matthew A. Diehl officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy McLaughlin, Kevin McLaughlin, Aaron McLaughlin, Ken Foreman, Hallie Lutz and Kenneth Lutz.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson.
