Erby June Acker Layne, age 86, of Mt. Jackson and formerly of Lebanon Church, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, July7 at Stover Memorial Chapel, Strasburg with Reverend Jim Corbitt officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery. Following the service a gathering for family and friends will be at Lebanon Church Committee Center pot luck fellowship.
Mrs. Layne was born June 7, 1928 in Omaha, Texas, a daughter of the late Alfred A. and Annie Lee Davis Acker.
She was a retired nurse and a member of Concord Baptist Church, Omaha, Texas. She was the wife of the late Charles Ithel Layne.
Surviving are her children, Carl Alfred Snodgrass of Phoenix, Arizona, Paula June Beavers of Mt. Jackson, Virginia, Glenda Ann Benson of Churchville, Virginia and Patrick Lee Snodgrass of Sterling, Virginia; four grandchildren, Tommie June Miller, Mitzie Wiggins, James Snodgrass and Deidre Beckenstrater; eight great grandchildren, Sean Miller, Amber Wiggins, James Beckenstrater, McKenna Miller, Ethan Beckenstrater, Mikey Miller, Dannick Snodgrass and Jamie Snodgrass.
Pallbearers will be Dexter Benson, Tommy Beavers, Michael Miller, Jimmy Beckenstrater, Mickey Carter, Patrick Snodgrass and James Beckenstrater.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 N. Holliday St., Strasburg, Virginia on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
