Floyd Tilden Himelright, age 81, of Strasburg, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Stover Memorial Chapel, Strasburg with Pastor Freddie Helsley officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post No. 2123, Winchester.
Mr. Himelright was born May 4, 1931 in the Wheatfield Community of Shenandoah County, a son of the late Erol Leslie and Bettie Catherine Snarr Himelright.
He was a member of the St. Luke Church of the Brethren, Woodstock where he held many offices and an associate member of Round Hill Church of the Brethren, Toms Brook where he was choir director. He retired from Automotive Industries, Strasburg with 19 years of service and retired on January 1, 1990 as Master Sargent from the West Virginia National Guard, 167 Airlift Wing, with 40 years of service. He began his military career by serving in the United States Army and was a former member of Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77, Strasburg.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty Jane Riffey Himelright; his son, Michael D. Himelright of Martinsburg, WV; his daughter, Brenda Jane Himelright Gatliff of Toms Brook; four grandchildren, Jay Tilden Gatliff of Edinburg, Lucy Gabrielle Gatliff of Toms Brook, Michael Don Allen Himelright of Bedford, PA and Matthew Edward Himelright of Martinsburg, WV; and two great- grandchildren, Haylee Niccole Gatliff and Savannah âSaraã Lynn Gatliff.
Also surviving are four step-sisters, Betty Vaughan of Woodstock, Shirley Brill and husband Raymond of Star Tannery, Patsy Wymer and husband Shirley and Dorothy Miller and husband Larry, all of Strasburg; a step-brother, Robert Miller and wife Mae of Strasburg; his granddaughter-in-law, Niccole Dawson Gatliff of Front Royal; his sister-in-law, Juanita Himelright of Strasburg; a number of nieces and nephews and his great-nephew, Bobby Quick and wife Mary Beth of Maurertown who have taken care of him for the last several months.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Boyd, Henry "Hope", Curtis and Harry Himelright; a sister, Freddie L. Beeler; an infant son, Don Allen Himelright; and a step-brother, Earl Himelright.
Pallbearers will be Jay Gatliff, William Barrick, Dave Barrick, Tony Tristen, Ray Heishman, Jr. and Bobby Quick.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg on Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Church of the Brethren, Woodstock or Round Hill Church of the Brethren, Toms Brook.
