Sadie Mae Utterback Ryan, age 77, a resident of Strasburg, VA, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Heritage Hall, Front Royal, VA.

A graveside service for Mrs. Ryan will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in St. Stephens Cemetery with Pastors Jonathan and Deanna Boynton officiating.

She was born in Frederick County, VA on August 31, 1935, a daughter of the late Lewis William, Sr. and Gladys Virginia Stine Utterback. She retired from the Northern Virginia Daily and she was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 Auxiliary of Strasburg, Women of the Moose Chapter 1319 of Strasburg, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4186 of Strasburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Ryan, Sr.; a daughter, Robin Ryan Hockman; four brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include her children, Brenda R. Silveus and husband Steve of Strasburg, VA, Robert "Bobby" J. Ryan, Jr. and wife Cyrene of Woodstock, VA, and Tony A. Ryan and fiancee, Jessica Ritenour of Strasburg, VA; grandchildren, Hunter Silveus, Darren Gochenour, Joey Hockman, Kelsey Ryan, Mackenzie Ryan and Cody Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Gochenour, Dayle Louck, Addyson Gochenour, Shepherd Hockman, and Lucy Hockman.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Ryan, Tony Ryan, Steve Silveus, Darren Gochenour, Joey Hockman, and Mike Moton.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Building Fund c/o Linda Racey, 15716 Back Road, Strasburg, VA 22657 or Strasburg Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 620, Strasburg, VA 22657.

The family would like to thank Heritage Hall of Front Royal, VA for the compassion and care given to Mrs. Ryan while she was a resident there.
