John E. Wright, 58, of The Plains, VA, passed away in his home Saturday, April 20. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Debbie R. Wright.

He was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen Wright and father, Charles Wright; also sister, Brenda Wright.

John leaves behind his twin brother, Joe Wright; brother, Mike Wright; and sister, Judy Brown. John and Debbie were never fortunate enough to have children but helped raise many nieces and nephews whom they adored dearly. For those of you who knew John he and Debbie had a special relationship with their nephew, James Lee Campbell, Jr. that was like a son to them and helped raise him through the years.

John had been farming for the last 45 years which he started at the age of 13 working with his Dad at Fleetwood Farm in Delaplane, Virginia. After many years there, on April 1, 2000, he moved to Whitewood Farm in the Plains, VA to work for the Ohrstrom family. John always said the last 13 years at Whitewood Farm were the best working years of his life. They were so much like family and not just an employer.

July 9, 2009 John was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) and has been a strong survivor of this until a mishap of a Gall Bladder attack 2 weeks ago. John was released from the hospital on April 18 and seemed to be fine, however on April 20 unfortunately he passed away in his sleep.

John had the help and support of many friends and family members to deal with this dreadful disease each and every day for the last 4 years. Everyone really stepped up to the plate doing odds and ends that John could not without the use of his arms. He may have lost the use of them but were replaced by 20 or more with the help of his family and friends.

John's viewing will be held at Royston Funeral Home in Middleburg, VA from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 25. The funeral service will be held at Upperville Baptist Church on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m.
