Newman, Tomomi Shimokawara - Clarksville  
On Aug. 27, 2015 in the early morning hours, Tomomi Shimokawara Newman, was called home to be with God. Tomomi passed at home while in the arms of her loving husband, Juan Newman of Clarksville, Tennesse, with family present. Tomomi was born Sept. 16, 1972, in Tokyo, Japan. Tomomi loved life in Japan and Hawaii. Tomomi met her husband, Juan, in early 2004 and the wo fell instantly in love. Tomomi and Juan were married April 13, 2005, and began their life together. They lived in Germany from 2005 to 2009. In 2009 they moved to Navarre, Florida, where Tomomi continued to support Juan's military flying career in the 4th Special Operations Squadron, Hurlburt Field Florida, his retirement, and his new career with Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, all the while raising their two children, Jamarcus and Daisha. Tomomi was a great wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Her family and friends will always remember her loving and caring nature (and that she did not kill Juan in his sleep). Tomomi is survived by her husband, Juan; children, Jamarcus (age 5) and Daisha (age 4); parents, Nayoshi and Yoshiko Shimokawara, of Japan; sisters, Toshie Hasegaw, Taeko Nakamura and families, Japan; mother and father-in-law, Agnes and Paul Newman, Clarksville; brother-in-law, Nicholas "souvenir thief" Newman, Clarksville; as well as a host of family and friends. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, 11 a.m. at Gateway Church, formerly Grace Tabernacle, located at 216 Eglin Parkway (inside Mariner Plaza), Fort Walton Beach, Florida. A reception will follow at the same location. Chaplain Malheiro will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tomomi's life.
