David Eldredge Pearce(1944 - 2013)

David Eldredge Pearce, a resident of Niceville for 17 years, passed away Oct. 2, 2013. He was born in Antioch, Calif., on Dec. 31, 1944, and raised in Compton, Calif., as one of seven children in an amazing family. David valued education and graduated with honors from both Brigham Young University and Pepperdine Law School. David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lynnette (Larsen) Pearce; children, Amy (Pearce) Gouker and husband, Jason, Noelle (Pearce) Brandau and husband, Mark, Matthew Pearce and Wendy Pearce; and grandchildren, Emma, Maddalyn, Cadence, Mason and Griffin. He was also a beloved member of a large extended family.
At the age of 19, David served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argen-tina. In service to our country, David had a tour in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Financial Manager at Rockwell/Boeing in both the aerospace and defense programs in Cali-fornia, Alabama and Florida.
After retirement, David began his "dream job" as a starter at Sandestin Golf Resort. He spent many happy hours golfing with friends and his grandchildren. David never met a stranger, always stopping to visit for a mo-ment in the grocery store or the library, and lending his help whether to hurricane victims or calling on a friend in the hospital. He served in many positions at his church including being a Bishop of the Niceville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 6 years. David was an example of loving, selfless service to family and neighbors.
His family will hold in their hearts the memories of PJS reunions and many summers spent camping, reading The Little Engine That Could to his grandchildren, rides on the jet ski, playing games like UNO and backgammon, and hiking many waterfalls while on the annual vacation in North Carolina for his wedding anniversary. He and Lynnette loved to travel, especially enjoying the unexpected side trips. The family deeply appreciates all of the prayers and support received during this time of transition.
There will be a time of visitation held on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home (2201 Partin, Niceville). Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1100 S. Palm Blvd, Niceville).
