Dorothy Elizabeth Parker passed away on Dec. 21, 2013. She was born on July 27, 1925, to the late Hollis and Ruby Weed. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother and showed her two sons, Bobby and Billy, how to live a Christian life. Married to W.T. Parker, Jr. in 1941, she served her community as LPN during World War II
while W.T. served in the U.S. Navy
After the War, Dorothy and W.T. moved the family to Crestview where she was baptized at First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. Dorothy served as President of Crestview Garden Club and active in WMU. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, set the Christian example for Melinda, Traci, Ty and Travis. During those years Dorothy was able to travel, she and W.T. enjoyed the many trips to Colorado and Alaska.
Her son, Bobby preceded her by a few months. She is survived by her husband, W.T.; her son, Bill and his wife, Linda; grandchildren, Melinda, married to Ed Gerber, Traci, married to Dean Mason, Ty and his wife, Melissa, Travis and his wife, Sandi; and eight great-grandchildren, Parker, Amber, Trevor, Kurt, Drake, Tripp, Priyanna and Broderick.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and caregivers for the attention and loving care given to Dorothy during her time at Crestview Rehab Center.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with the service starting at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Donnie Cadenhead and burial following at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
