Mr. George Richard Blackburn, Jr., age 72, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. He was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Harlengin, Texas, to George and Leverna Bevells Blackburn.
Mr. Blackburn had been a resident of Santa Rosa beach, Fla. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving his country in the United States Army
with over 20 years of serving before retiring. He also worked as a Title Researcher for many years. He enjoyed reading, working puzzles' and fishing.
Mr. Blackbur is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Blackburn is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Peggy O. Blackburn, of Santa Rosa beach, Fla.; sons, John Blackburn of Tennessee, James Blackburn of Virginia, Clint Epps of Tennessee, Joe Hargis and wife, Cari, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Clifford Bright and wife, Amanda, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; daughters, Evelyn Miller of Ohio, Sylvia Reiter of Louisiana and Patricia Moore of Santa Rosa beach; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home at 150 East Highway 20, Freeport, FL 32439.
Graveside services will be held 10:15 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2014, at Barancas National Cemetery.
