Rev. Hayward T. Chapman(1923 - 2014)

The Reverend Hayward T. Chapman, age 91, of Crestview, Fla., went to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, July 19, with his family by his side. He was born in Prattville, Ala., on May 5, 1923, and moved to the area in 1994.
He began preaching in 1948, and pastored 16 churches, and built 5 of those churches in the U.S. and foreign countries. He also founded "The Chapel" in Crestview. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, served two tours of combat and survived 50 missions and was decorated 13 times during World War II, participated in the Berlin Air Lift, and flew cargo during the Korean Conflict. He was also an avid fisherman and bird hunter.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Hazel Chapman, parents Charles T. and Vera Chapman, and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife Jane D. Chapman, one son Rev. Charles Tyler (Chuck) Chapman III, two grandchildren, Charles Tyler (Charlie) Chapman IV, Phillip Tyler Chapman, and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery with Rev. Charles Dyess officiating; a celebration of life to follow at Campton Assembly of God at 12 p.m.
