Samuel 'Jack' Colburn, age 69 , of Shalimar, Fla., passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at his home. He was born on May 28, 1943, in Northport, Ala., to Samuel R. Colburn and Effie Mae Barger.
He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy
and was retired from Vitro/BAE after 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #235 and the 40/8. He loved old country music, drinking, camping and telling stories at Thursday's meeting of the minds with Doug Blount.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Nell Glass, Ilene Still, Iris Dollar, Ruby Jackson, Marie Wheat and Faye Evans; brother, Edward Colburn; son, Samuel P. "Heavy" Colburn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sally McEwen Colburn; daughter, Barbara (Don) Roberts Bellot; son, Michael Colburn; grandchildren, Cody, Delaney and Theda Roberts; sisters, Coralee Turner, Eunice Trull and Lois Whitt.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, N.E., and Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, casual dress is requested.
