Col. William K. Seago, U.S. Army
(Ret.), age 77, of Niceville, Fla., passed away on July 23, 2013, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center after a long battle of Multi Myeloma Cancer. Keith was born on Sept. 20, 1935, to Pierce and Helen Seago in Greenwood, S.C. He graduated from Sarasota High School and joined the U.S. Army and retired after 30 years serving his country. He was commander for three years of the 18th Airborne Field Artillery Brigade (ABN). Keith also received medals Legion of Merritt, Bronze Star
and Meritorious Service Medal. He was vice president of First Citizen bank in Fort Bragg, N.C. He also received his master of science degree from Shippensburg University of Mississippi, bachelor of science from Benedictine College and U.S. Army War College. Keith was an avid golfer for 18 years and held several offices in Bluewater Bay and Glenlakes Circle. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia Seago; son, William K, Seago Jr., and wife, Jana; daughter, Diane E. Laczko and husband, Andy; grandchildren, Dane, Marley and Elan; brothers, John Seago and wife, Faye, and Pete Seago and wife, Margaret. He is also survived by his favorite furry friend, "Buddy".
Keith was preceded in death by his son, Norman Reed Seago; father, Pierce Seago; and mother, Helen Reid Seago.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Niceville United Methodist Church followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at the Cancer Center of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Wounded Warrior foundation.
