William "Bill" Putz(1940 - 2014)

Chief Master Sgt. William "Bill" Putz, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital after a brief illness.
Bill was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Oct. 22, 1940, to Jeanette and Arthur Putz. He graduated from the High School of Music and Art where he studied the violin, performing solo in Carnegie Music Hall. He then joined the Air Force in 1959. Bill retired after 29 years with assignments overseas in Thailand, Vietnam, Okinawa and England. Stateside he served in Massachusetts, California, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Texas. He ended his career as the Senior Enlisted Advisor at Eglin Air Force Base. Bill's second career was with Metric Systems as a program manager, retiring again after 18 years.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Edrie; son, William (Dana); and daughter, Amy (Travis) Betsinger. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren who he adored and gave him great joy; Amy and Travis' two sons, Evan (7) and Cameron (2 ½), and Bill and Dana's daughter, Sophia (4).
Following his wishes, Bill will be cremated. The family plans a celebration of his life at a later date.
