Wilma Marlene Parry was born in Bloomfield, Mo., May 16, 1934, to Roy and Cora Belle Jennings, and passed away May 25, 2014, at the age of 80.
She was one of four children and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ronald Parry; her two brothers, Richard and David; and grandson, Jonathon. She leaves six children, four sons and two daughters, Jeffery, Pamela, Deanne, Timothy, Gregory and Stephen; two daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; as well as 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mary Roesch; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Wilma preferred to be called by her middle name, Marlene.
Marlene spent her early years in southern Missouri and Kansas where she graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City and graduated nursing school at Bethany Hospital in Kansas. She also taught LPN's in Kansas and New York. She later met and married her sweetheart, Charles R. Parry, at the Church of the Brethren, Kansas City, Kan., on Aug. 23, 1958. They moved to many places following her husband's vocational/technical administration positions. She had many happy years bearing and raising her six children and eventually retiring and settling in the Florida panhandle. Her loving husband of 46 years passed away on Jan. 16, 2004. Marlene's remaining years were spent living in Carlisle, Pa., and Freeport, Fla., where she made many new and lasting friends and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Valparaiso, Fla.
Marlene will be truly missed and will be laid to rest next to her husband at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. A graveside service will be held at 1:15 p.m., on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the cemetery, followed by a reception at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Valparaiso, Fla., at 3:30 p.m. Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola has been entrusted with arrangements.
