Col. Benjamin Bowes Beasley passed away on Dec. 3, 2013, at his home in Florida. In December 1934, he was born at West Point, New York while his father was teaching at the Academy. He graduated from Western High School in the District of Columbia in 1952 and from West Point in the class of 1957.

His 25 year career in the Army Armored Corps included two assignments in Germany and two tours in Vietnam. As a result of the latter service, he was awarded The Silver Star, Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal(with Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal(with three Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Army Commendation Medal. His last Army assignment was with the Military Training Mission in Saudi Arabia.
After retiring from the Army, he worked for Saudi-Aramco for 12 and half years until reaching their mandatory retirement age. Ben and his lovely wife, Tammy, moved home to Bluewater Bay, Fla., where they have lived happily since 1994. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters; five adult children; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Tammy and Ben are deeply grateful for the loving care given them at Emerald Coast Cancer Center, Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and Covenant Hospice.
